Discover The World Of Communication

While studying at American University, I worked as a TA at Discover the World of Communication, AU’s pre-college program for high school students interested in careers in media.

I worked with professors in Scriptwriting and Video Production, Newswriting, Sports Broadcasting, Weather Broadcasting, and more to help students get the most out of their experience. In addition, I was also often responsible for creating the video presentation for the end-of-program showcase. I have included three of examples of these class reels here.

During the summer of 2014, I worked on the video blogging team, where I and a fellow TA produced, filmed, and edited a short video highlighting different classes and after-hours experiences for every day of the program. By the end of the second session, we had created over 24 videos. I have include my favorite ones here.

After graduating, I was thrilled to return to the program, this time as a course instructor. I designed a new curriculum for the Children’s Media Production class at DWC and taught the course in 2018. I brought in a great mix of guest speakers from many different realms in the children’s media industry and helped my students create a short “pilot episode” for their very own show. Below I included their final project.
